Las Vegas Valley Water District

Transmission and Delivery

Distribution pipes

Water is delivered to your neighborhood through
a series of pipes.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District's transmission and distribution system consists of more than 4,100 miles of underground pipeline. This hidden network of pipes is water's pathway through the city.

Major transmission mains move water from treatment plants and reservoirs to neighborhood distribution pipes. From there, the water is delivered to homes and businesses.

The Water District's transmission and distribution network serves metropolitan Las Vegas, as well as small systems in surrounding areas.

Pipeline reliability

The Water District is the first U.S. agency to fully implement the Computer-Aided Rehabilitation of Water networks system (CARE-W).

CARE-W is an asset management tool that allows engineers to create a logical and cost-efficient strategy for the preventive maintenance and repair of the Water District's transmission system. This strategy of proper analysis and preventive maintenance allows the district to repair the right pipelines at the right time at a minimum cost before failure occurs. The goal is to ensure a steady and reliable water supply that meets the needs of valley residents and business owners.
