Speak to LVVWD representatives

If you'd like to know more about your water service, Las Vegas Valley Water District representatives regularly attend Mount Charleston Town Advisory Board meetings to answer your questions.

The meetings take place at the Mount Charleston Library at 7:30 p.m. on the Monday before the third Tuesday of each month. The board will hold meetings Feb. 13 (due to Presidents Day), March 17 and April 14.

You also are welcome to contact us via e-mail with your questions.

Prune trees for a healthy landscape

Winter is the ideal time to prune trees and shrubs. This is when most are bare and before new growth appears which allows you to see the branch structure. Follow these pruning tips:

  • Try not to take off more than one-third of the living tissue during the year.
  • If you want to walk under a tree, prune low branches while they are small.
  • Look for a slight bulge at the base of a branch, this is the branch collar. Place your cut just outside the collar, leaving the smallest wound possible without leaving a stub.
  • For thick branches, or for any pruning that requires you to climb into a tree, consider consulting a professional.
