The LVVWD uses state-of-the-art GPS
technology.
In 2007 the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVWD) began to upgrade all existing GPS base stations, antennas and corresponding software to the Leica Geosystems GRX 1200 pro receivers, GRX 1200 GG pro receivers, AT 504 and AT 504GG choke ring antennas and Spider Network Software.
This upgrade has continued throughout 2009 and includes additional LVVWD-owned sites, and the upgrade allows for cooperative agreements with other agencies to include their sites into our network. These other agencies include the Nevada Department of Transportation, City of Las Vegas, Clark County Water Reclamation District, City of North Las Vegas, Lincoln County and in the future, the City of Henderson. This system allows for Internet corrections via TCP/IP Internet protocol. You may view the product descriptions and white papers at Leica Geosystems.
Some of these sites have been accepted into the NGS National CORS and some are still under consideration by NGS. A map depicting all the current National Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) can be found at the National Geodetic Surveys Web site.
