This well in LVVWD's North Well
Field can produce 3,100 gallons of water per minute. |
Wells are used to tap into our groundwater
supply. They're mainly operated in summer to meet water demands
during periods of peak usage, but also are available for emergencies.
Wells can pump anywhere between 400 and 4,000 gallons
of water per minute. All of our wells combined can produce nearly
175 million gallons of water per day.
During winter months, we recharge certain wells
with treated Colorado River water. This artificial recharge gives
nature a helping hand in maintaining our groundwater supply.

personal or community wells, visit the Las Vegas Valley Groundwater
Management Program Web site.
