The Las Vegas Valley Water District strives to make bidding on contracts
feasible for all vendors, especially small, minority, women-owned
and disadvantaged businesses (S/M/W/DBE). We're committed to supporting
these businesses and have developed an enterprise program to help
cultivate their growth and opportunities.
Our efforts include:
- Conducting outreach seminars
to let smaller businesses know what we're doing and how to start
doing business with us
- Designing contract specifications
so that smaller businesses are capable of bidding
- Participating in public
efforts to assist small or disadvantaged businesses
- Awarding contracts to S/M/W/DBE
businesses when all other professional qualifications are equal
- Minimizing bonding and insurance
requirements, while still protecting the district from unnecessary
claims
- Establishing a clearinghouse
for S/M/W/DBE searches, availability, referrals and information
In 2002, the Water District
received the Small
Business Association's Freedom Award for its assistance of S/M/W/DBE
businesses.
