Las Vegas Valley Water District rate increase

The rate increase is effective May 1, 2008 (for April 2008 consumption).

The rate increase will help promote water conservation and will help the Water District recover more closely the costs to deliver water.

The alternatives before the board were developed last fall by a consumer advisory committee comprised of 14 residents representing diverse stakeholder groups within the Water District’s service area.

The committee recommended that the LVVWD ask for the increase to advance regional conservation objectives and ensure the financial viability of the Water District.

In general, the proposals would increase bills by about 23 percent with a greater percentage increase for larger water users, and a smaller percentage increase for those customers who typically use less water.

Customers can determine the impact of the increase on their bill using a special rate calculator.
