The Las Vegas Valley Water District in 2007 upgraded all existing GPS base stations, antennas and corresponding software to the Leica Geosystems GRX 1200 pro receivers,
AT 504 choke ring antennas and Spider Network Software. This upgrade allows for Internet corrections via TCP/IP Internet protocol.
You may view the product descriptions and white papers at:
http://www.leica-geosystems.com/corporate/en/products/gps_systems/lgs_4229.htm.
The District is planning to upgrade to NAD 83 (NGS 2007) when available. This move will bring all District base stations onto the same datum and time epoch. This should provide a seamless coordinate system from one station to the next.
Users should be aware that NGS 2007 datum differs slightly from NGS 2002, which is the current system. However minimal these differences appear, they can be significant from a geodesist's and Surveyor's perspective.
A map depicting the stations can be found at http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/CORS/Maps2005/nv.html.
Prospective users of the files and supporting information of the Las Vegas Valley Water District's (District) global positioning system must accept the District's terms before they can access the data.
If you have questions about the District's GPS program and information, please contact the District Surveyor at (702) 870-2011.
