Kyle Canyon landscape
watering schedule and restrictions
To ensure irrigation
demands are distributed evenly and to provide adequate resting periods
for well recovery, Kyle Canyon residents are assigned watering days
based on their property address. The watering restrictions become
more stringent depending upon the water
system condition.

Time-of-day restrictions
Landscape irrigation is prohibited between
the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. from May 1 through
Sept. 30.
Weekend and hand watering
Demands on the watering system are higher on
weekends than during mid-week, which increases the potential for
a well failure. To help ensure basic water needs are met, follow
these hand-watering measures:
- Use a positive shut-off spray nozzle that is manually controlled
at all times. No unattended watering (i.e. running a hose or sprinkler
attachment).
- Hand watering is allowed during the week days at any time of
the day.
- Limit hand watering to one day on the weekends (either Saturday
or Sunday).
- Do not water (hand or irrigation) during emergency operating
conditions.
Irrigation timers
Irrigation clock timers help make your landscape
watering more efficient. Customers are required to equip irrigation
systems with an irrigation clock.
- Set timers for a maximum watering time of 15 minutes per area.
- Manually reset timers in 15-minute increments if additional
water is necessary. Total water time should never exceed 30 minutes.
- Watering duration may vary depending on the type of sprinkler
used. Most subsurface and hose attachment sprinklers produce high
water flows, which can significantly reduce the watering time
needed. Oscillating or fan sprinklers are less efficient and may
require the maximum watering duration.
- Irrigation timers for both hose attachment sprinklers and underground
irrigation systems are available at local nurseries and home improvement
stores.

Vehicle, surface and equipment
washing
Under "Concerned Operating Conditions," customers may wash personal
vehicles once per week with a hose equipped with a positive shut-off
nozzle. Personal vehicle, surface, building and equipment washing
is prohibited under "Critical and Emergency conditions." Water must
not flow from the property for longer than five minutes.
Lawn watering tips
For more information about water-saving tips, visit the Southern
Nevada Water Authority's Web site.
- Some lawns require more or less water, depending upon the type
of grass you have. Adding or removing one minute from the watering
time will change the amount of water you use by 25 percent.
- Don't water when it's windy, raining or during freezing conditions.
- Make sure you water your lawn on a separate schedule from your
plants, trees and shrubs.
- Water during the early morning hours from May to October to
minimize water lost to evaporation. Water during the warmer part
of the day from November to April to prevent water from freezing
on your landscape.
- Schedule start times at least one hour apart. Use the Cycle
& Soak method of watering.
