Springs Preserve
Imagine a time long before Las Vegas
became the glitzy and glamorous city we know today, when native Americans
and explorers found life-sustaining springs in the desert.
This is the story retold by the Springs Preserve,
the site of the historical springs that contributed to our city's
development. While the springs no longer flow to the surface, the
area still holds archaeological treasures dating back thousands of
years. It also provides a habitat for a variety of plants and animals.
As the site's owner and steward, the Las Vegas Valley
Water District works with the Springs Preserve Foundation to
protect the area and create a community gathering placea gateway
through time where people can learn about the valley's rich history
and explore methods to ensure sustainability for our future.
The Preserve includes museums, gardens,
walking paths and restored structures that recreate the story of
Las Vegas' past.
