My AccountWater Line Protection Program
Water service line leaks can cost homeowners thousands of dollars to repair and are typically not covered by homeowners' insurance. As your home ages, the risk of a water service line leak increases.
Beginning in January 2025, Water District account holders will have the option to purchase a reduced-cost warranty from American Water Resources (AWR) to help minimize or eliminate the cost of leak repairs to their property's water service line (the pipe that runs from the water meter to the house). The Water District partnered with AWR to provide an exclusive rate of $3.99 per month for all single-family residential account holders who own their home, and the LVVWD will reimburse the first year of protection for the first 50,000 account holders who enroll with AWR.
Enrollment in the American Water Resources Water Line Protection Program is available as an optional benefit for single-family homeowners. AWR will process claims, coordinate repairs, and collect program fees. To enroll in the Water Line Protection Program and learn how you can be reimbursed for the first year of protection, visit American Water Resources.
LVVWD negotiated a below-market rate for our residential water account holders and is not accepting any financial compensation from AWR.
LVVWD's First Year Reimbursement Promotion: AWR is not responsible for the Promotion or reimbursement payments. The Promotion is subject to change or termination at LVVWD's sole discretion. Only eligible LVVWD account holders who own the enrolled property can receive the Promotion. Customers who receive the Promotion will be notified by LVVWD; customers who are not eligible for the Promotion will not be notified. Reimbursement will be issued in the form of a check from LVVWD to the address on the customer's LVVWD account. For monthly-paying customers that receive the Promotion, the reimbursement will be issued within 90 days after twelve months of active enrollment. Customers who pay annually at the start of their term will be reimbursed within six months of enrollment.
Leak Adjustment Program
Customers who receive an unusually high bill due to a leak may qualify for the Leak Adjustment Program after the leak has been repaired. Additionally, customers who incur excessive use charges because of the leak may be eligible to have the portion of those charges related to the leak reversed, provided the repairs are completed promptly. If approved, the credit applied to the account may include a 50 percent reduction in the volumetric charges for the water used due to the leak.
Eligibility Requirements:
- There must be at least one full month of recorded water consumption at the property prior to the month in which the leak or malfunction occurred. This baseline month will be compared to either the same month in the previous year (if available) or the month immediately preceding the leak or malfunction.
- The water consumption during the affected period must have increased by at least 50 percent compared to the baseline month.
- No bill credit has been received through the Leak Adjustment Program within the past 12 months.
- Repairs were completed within two months of discovering the leak or being notified of it.
- This request is submitted within 90 days of the date the leak repairs were completed.
Once the required information has been submitted, the account will be reviewed to determine if the customer is eligible for financial relief and, if so, to calculate the adjustment amount based upon the leak volume.
To capture all the leak/malfunction consumption and accurately calculate an adjustment, it may be necessary to wait for the next bill to print. An adjustment may take up to three bill cycles to reflect on the account.
Adjustments may include a reduction of 50 percent of the volumetric charges for the water use attributable to the leak, and/or an excessive use charge adjustment, but only for the portion of water use attributable to the leak.
